Pokémon Black and White 2 'Pre-Release' tourney tips.

HEY GUYS~
Trivia: Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 are the first main series Pokémon games with numbers!
Anyway, I've decided to release a mini-guide with regards to the Release Tourney taking place tomorrow, Sunday.
Now, the rules are simple.

Play the game for 3 Hours, with 15 minutes of break in between each hour.

  • This competition will be using the Triple Battle format.
  • The Wonder Launcher may be used.
  • Players may use Pokémon found in the Pokémon Black 2 Version or Pokémon White 2 Version, including Genesect (Unova Dex #300)
    Okay. So, now what? Triples, 3 hours. Sounds simple?
    Not.
    'Sup.
    From what I am made aware of at this point of time, GENESECT is allowed. I.E: Maxsoft might be distributing the event with Wifi. So yay~
    Okay, so how're we going to go about with this meta?
    One person got Genesect. that means EVERYONE has a Genesect. It comes at level 15, and it's a powerhouse, but do NOT rely on the bug! :D

    ___

    It's a simple guide, it's just a list of Pokémon possible to get throughout the course of the 3 hours. Note that this guide assumes the absolute fastest speed musterable by man without cheating.

    Oh, if I write...
    "Rattata->Raticate"
    It means that it is POSSIBLE to evolve a Pokémon within the 3 hours, but may or may not be difficult. Will denote.

    Pokémon Available before the Basic Badge(Aspertia)

    -Snivy->Servine
    -Tepig->Pignite
    -Oshawott->Dewott
    The starters are a bit of a given. They're easy to evolve within the 3 hours, and they provide any team with much needed STAB for the 3 Elements.
    Normally I'll say "pick based on what your team needs!"
    This time, I'll say: Servine is -useless- in this meta, since there are way WAY too many things that resist it. What with Magnemite, Genesect, Koffing and maybe even Pidove running around.

    Dewott is OKAY in this meta, what with Pignite, Darumaka and Growlithe. Good counter to their counters for Genesect.

    Pignite wins out against the two, what with being dual-typed. Fire also helps, especially if you're not confident of going against Genesects.

    -Patrat->Watchog
    Patrat is a Pokémon you need to take some effort in evolving. He evolves at level 20, so grinding is a bit hard, but possible. (Pro-Tip: Audino spawn. Where they spawn the best? Won't tell you ;D)
    An absolute gamebreaker in this tourney(funnily enough.) and he isn't just vendor trash anymore!
    Watchog gets HYPNOSIS and if you get past Castelia events, you get STRENGTH. He also learns CRUNCH.
    Let's look at this: Watchog gets a sleep-inducer, a reliable STAB attack and a reliable coverage move. All within 3 hours. 5/5. Gamebreaker.

    -Purrloin->Liepard
    I personally don't like Liepard. The only thing he has going for it is a Fake Out. And like. Orh. Okay lor, Fake Out.
    For the same effort, you can get a Watchog.

    -Riolu(Bitch is Rare.)->Lucario
    At Floccesy Ranch, Riolu spawns at a 5% Rate.
    Riolu actually rocks, I would usually say that...but after personal experience, he's one of those Pokémon that slow you down until he gets Force Palm at level 15. Getting a Lucario is ludricously hard. Since there aren't any happiness checkers or Soothe Bells on the way, it's really a shot in the dark of how happy your Riolu is.

    -Mareep->Flaaffy
    Flaaffy. I don't need to say a word. I love Flaaffy for being Fluffy <3
    Thundershock, Strength, T-Wave. Pretty good~

    -Pidove->Tranquil
    Flying type coverage would be awesome, but unlike BW1 Launch, we don't have Timburr and Sawks running around.

    -Lillipup->Herdier
    Watchog outclasses Herdier.

    -Psyduck
    If you really really NEED Water coverage, then this guy gets Water Gun. Provides support to Genesect with Water Sport too, I'd suppose? xD

    -Sewaddle->Swadloon
    Grass coverage in early game with Razor Leaf, but Swadloon doesn't have much going for it.

    Pokémon Available before the Toxic Badge(Virbank)

    Venipede->Whirlipede
    -Meh.

    Koffing
    -Pretty defensive with some poison moves, like Poison Gas. Combos with Venoshock.

    Magnemite
    -A powerhouse, but obsoleted with Genesect. He gets SonicBoom at level 12, so that helps speed-running.

    Genesect
    -The reason why I didn't mention Genesect earlier, is because of the badge restrictions. Genesect won't obey you IN-GAME before the first badge. Now he will. Genesect is an absolute powerhouse, and I'd say you don't need to train him up much, unless you really REALLY want that Flame-Charge coverage at level 18.
    You obtain him at level 15, so 3 levels isn't too much of a stretch.

    Growlithe->Arcanine
    -WAIT FIRE STONE? WHERE?
    :D don't tell you ;D
    Growlithe is a powerhouse what with Intimidate. A viable powerhouse with FlameWheel later on at level 17.

    Magby and Elekid.
    -Please don't use either. Outclassed by Darumaka and Flaaffy. :/

    Pokémon Available before the Insect Badge(Castelia)

    Here on out, btw? All Pokémon will be difficult to evolve. This is within the last hour, so time management.

    Rattata->Raticate.
    -Guy gets Hyper Fang at this point, and if you're insistent, he's a better attacker than watchog, I'd suppose? not much diff.

    Zubat->Golbat
    -HARD to get Golbat.

    Grimer
    -Orh. Koffing was here first. <3

    Darumaka
    -Actually pretty viable. Easy to catch, easy to use right off the bat, but accuracy is a bit scary to deal with. Hustle boosts Attack to insane levels, at the very least.

    Sandile
    -Counters Flaaffy and Magnemites? I suppose. The fact that you can't evolve him kills him in my opinion.

    ___

    Anyway, that's the brief pointers I can provide you! Have fun, and I'd see y'all there :)

    Until next time, strive to be a Pokémon Master!
